Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Never question a job Dave may have done at sometime in his career ...... working for an insurance company was one I didn't have on my Bingo sheet, so "protective coating technician" and "decorative application artist" are far more likely to be there than insurance backroom worker ...... ;)

I doubt they make a roller for the profile surface of these two containers, what every they were carrying previously has made a serious attempt on escaping ..... I doubt there is an actually grading level for these containers, the second level on this site sort of boarders on the edges https://containertraders.com.au/grades/ ... kAQAvD_BwE
every defect, plus a few, are present on these containers .... it will probably require skilful spray application to get some of surfaces completely covered ......

Let's just say, if I had gone personally to view these containers before purchase, it would nave been a "yeah nah" let's look at something else  I'm definitely getting too old for this sort of crap, I'm completely missing the potential traps ..... but too late now, I've paid for them, they are on site, so now I have to deal with the hand I've been dealt ....

Terry, I've probably done a few other things that you are blissfully unaware of. But that's OK. I have never claimed to have been a painter, much like yourself.

I did receive a certificate for automotive spray painting from NSW TAFE .... but there wasn't any training involving water based paints  there was training in powder coating ..... but not sure where I'd find a portable bake oven that would accommodate a 40 ft container, so I'm gunna rule that one out ;)
Hopefully, this pressure spray unit will arrive from Temu in the promised 2 to 7 days .... ya have to love the way they carefully word these promises Arrives in 2+ BUSINESS DAYS - Local warehouse but once the sale is completed it changes to 2 - 7 business days delivery (Nov 27 - Dec 3)

It is certainly warm outside in Upper Mannum, a tad too warm to spend much time outside the air conditioned comfort of the Winnie ......

 That was the trigger that encouraged further investigation, the turps didn't mix with the water based paint, so I poured the turps off and back into the bottle .... then I tried thinning it with water till it flowed at the required rate through the viscosity cup ..... it was at that stage I realised I had bought the wrong type of paint gun and also learnt you can't apply water based paint thinned enough to spray paint using a paint brush .... but it didn't leave any runs ... in fact, it didn't leave any colour either

It left you with a tin of paint that gets left out in the sun until a good % of the water evaporates. ( just stir it a bit every now and then )

Terry, I knew you were as good a painter as I am, when you said that you might get a gig on the cricket team, on the other thread.
But then, by the looks of it it wouldnt be too hard to do a better job than the Poms.
Ron, I like that tip about leaving the over thinned tin in the sun.
Cheers

Except, turps was added to a water based paint. Somehow, the turps needs to be boiled off.

In the Certificate for Automotive Spray Painting from NSW TAFE, did they teach how to boil of turps? Maybe, that theory could be applied?
