Interested in rocks, granite, quartz etc

Post by BruceS »

Some time ago we had someone on this forum that was heavily involved in the study of ancient earth rocks etc
Are they still here?
I've come across a lot of petrified timber etc.
It is wonderful the grain & various colours of samples.
Was it Julian?
I've been wondering if it can be cut with a diamond saw & polished?

Are you looking at finding big pieces, slicing it up and making bench tops and coffee tables ..... The dovetail joints would require a special set of skills ;)

Bruce, any saw will do but with a diamond edged blade. The trick in making the coffee table tops , once they are all cut to the same thickness, place in a bordered shape and pour over a thick coating of resin. I have a few tins of the rocks and have some plans, but never enough time for these experiments. Have fun.

Geez, petrified wood is so common. It's like it grows on trees or something.
