This is our fridge its a 150lt Vitrifrigo 12v-24v. has been running erratically for sometime now, Had a new thermostat fitted regased, and the fans replaced to no avail..Just would not switch off.

This is my solution a timer that can be set to run and switch off 8 times a day and night. So far brilliant....
This is the timer...

Thats brilliant thinking Norman your a real solution finder. :D

The guy at the local brew shop has a gadget with a temperature sensor attached to a box where he turns the fridge on and off to maintain a brew temp of 18 degrees, similar to your solution for different purposes I think.

Cheaper than the big bucks to fix the fridge I think. :(

Peter an easy way to correct your 4 kgs less weight due to the new fridge.

Work out how many stubbies equal 4 kgs and then you can have that many beers in the fridge at all times.

Only doing it to keep the balance of course.
Merry Xmas ALL

Luckily we were still on site so the M.o.W.a.F. went to look. Replacement was ordered and duly arrived. Since Friday it has been running on one notch under max and has not been connected to shore power. I have just been out and checked the battery level before the sun hits solar panels. Got a healthy 12.7 volts and fridge is sitting on 2.1c. So far very happy with it. The guy that fitted it did a great job and it sits flush with the cabinet. The old one used to sit out 60mm. It has been connected to the hot wire from the black Fella and runs off the house battery when switched over.
Getting there slowly I now only have to change 3 globes and we will be totally LED.
One thing that worries me though as the new fridge is 4 kilos lighter than the old one will it throw the balance of the van out when travelling. Well that would be positive in that other place

That is a very neat looking install, 'one notch under max" why are you running the fridge that high? Now the serious questions, is the weight reduction in front of the axle or behind it, it will change the ball weight and the W.D.H. will need to be adjust differently each side now as the load is uneven and...... I think Brian has the better solution

I thought it was a good solution.

Just think about the possibilities.

You have several objects of similar size so can do infinite adjustments. On a hot day you could check balance and if too heavy then remove one stubbie (it is cold so pity to waste a cold beer so drink it. Balance restored)

Too light put another stubby in.

Mobile fire extinguisher. In case of fire remove stubby and shake and point top at fire and remove cap (dont forget to replace so van is level again.

Ready cold compress if you sprain or get a sore joint.

If food needs to be added to fridge then remove cold beer and drink before it gets hot. That way on a hot day just send the little lady shopping and then get fridge ready for extra food before she returns.

When arriving at a camp sight get a cold stubby and lay on floor. if it rolls one way then jack up the side it rolls towards, then turn 90 degrees and check other way. When all OK remove cap whilst holding top away from you and drink fast.

Many more reasons but you should get the idea.

Norman pity I wont see you while in Aus or I could teach you some Aussie camping tricks though I thought you would have learned the way of the Aussie Nomad by now or do you need more practice  .

Just so it will draw more power over night. It is down to 1/3 now. I have just come home from work and still at that rate every thing works so Battery seems to be coping well so far. The stubbies will likely be Bundaberg Ginger beer. The timber above the fridge is new, the old one was abit taller for the controls. Note the nice chrome buttons on the screws that hold the nuclear device in not like the cad plated rubbish the builder used. A lot of research went into it before I bit the bullet and got it. I listened to those that had them read all the data sheets and doubled there power usage, then used an error factor of 4. I allowe3d half the purchase price as a fitting cost. Which it did. The workshop quoted 3 to 4 hours then found that mods to cupboards were required. It was priced out around $580, still well within my budget forecast. The because the sales shop boss stuffed us about with his negativity, the workshop gave us $132 off the total fit. I got them to check U Bolts. All well all were tightened to 70nms. To mr that implies that somewhere maybe a shade loose. The van I will admit tows beautifully behind Blaaack Max. (i did not use WDH) to take it there or back to home dont tell anyone.
Raena and I try all sorts of powerusage combos on the van, just to see how far we can srech the friendship with the basic setup we have

Cheers Peter
