Adjusting the LNB

For those lucky enough to be traveling around how often do you need to reposition the LNB on your sat. dish. Not the elevation or the horizontal just the LNB itself. I have mind set up in the back yard and seem to be able to pick pretty near everywhere OK.

there are zones in which auto sat dishes require LNG adjustments .

Remember LNB adjustment is a fine tuning matter in most cases.

Imagine the sat over New Guinea on the equator, then draw dividing lines from that point in three zones one across say mildura, the other geraldton and you have zones one two and three, in side those zone a certain tolerance around a LNB setting is ok, past those line adjustment is necessary. I'll try and fine a real map for you to refer to rather than my attempt at explaining it.

This is a quick indication of the skew required for various locations on Oz.


You don't have to be too fussy. Within 10 degrees or so is usually good enough.

Then the next question is if the x degrees is by looking from in front of the dish or from behind it.........
Is it clockwise or anti?
Is it plus or minus?
On mine I have degrees marked on the LNB as well as the clamp!
I just know mine works & don't lose any sleep any more!!

+ve is clockwise looking at the dish from the front. (Your back to the satellite)

I just wiggle mine left or right until signal improves.

I have a manual system at the moment.
