6:30 last night my mobile received a txt message, “Catastrophic fire danger tomorrow for Illawarra Shoalhaven and Southern highlands. Not being in a bushfire prone area is the safe option. I don't think today will be a good day to go bush walking some how, I guess they sent it out last night because many people around these parts head into the bush or the southern highlands area to escape the extreme heat days and the accompanying humidity. It is going to be a stinker here today, it was hot outside at 6am this morning, thankfully we have ceiling fans and one is conveniently positioned directly over my computer 8-)

" We are at Two Wells just north of Adelaide and it was 48 deg today!!! We are reconcidering going west now, will double back and probably head over in a couple of months, gunna find cool spots along the Murray not too far east along it though.

Suggestions greatly appreciated for big rigs??????
Cheers all, keep safe Dot & George and everyone in this heat."
Thanks everyone we are going to take your advise and at least head down Yorke Penninsula, tomorrow (Wed) while it's a bit cooler ( had 41 here yesterday) we'll do Eyre Pen. and Wyalla after.

Again, thanks heaps for the help.

Cheers and keep cool eastern states, you're getting what we had :o

At 0930 this morning it was 27c with light scattered cloud... then 15 minutes later the wind came up & temp rose to 32c... few minutes ago clouds arrived along with some light rain - yeah, that wet stuff that's not supposed to be here at all today.

Don't really care either way, I'm sitting inside the van with the air on & gibbering away here in a pleasant 22c. House & yard is prepared for whatever comes our way & if it gets nasty we'll hitch up & drive 300m down to the end of our street to the double sports oval, where the local firies set up their command post. I think we should be pretty safe with them around. :D

We got our promised 43degC plus a bit today, had to shut all the door to try and keep the hot wind out, it's still 36.6C here at the moment. at least the firdges got a test under extreme condituions and passed with flying colours so I'm happy about that.

All good Dot,

As per my earlier PM we closed all the windows in the van around 0800, put sun shields on them & drew the curtains & when I turned the A/C on it was 20c inside. Stayed in the van all day - just because we could & to see how it was - & late afternoon when it was 42c outside it was a pleasant enough 26c inside so quite happy with the insulation stuff they using. The 3 way fridge stayed on 2c all day until mid afternoon when we opened it to get milk out for a cuppa... then it went up to 5c. It was set on #4 & realised we should have cranked it up a bit higher considering the expected to temps... so did so belatedly. Opened it again for the evening meal & it went to 7c & this morning it was down to 4c & now on 2c so all is good.
