Re: Toilet Additive
And a plastic drink bottle with the pop top does the rinse job just as effectively as the flush - with a lot less water used.

Re: Toilet Additive
Craig, With the SOG the air is drawn outside the van through a carbon filter in the door housing.Craig wrote:I have fitted SOG systems to our countries patrol boats and they work by pumping air through the waste. This promotes an Aerobic treatment of the waste. I do find it strange that the RV system simply draws fresh air into the tank and doesn't draw it through the waste or am I not reading it correctly?. The nappy san and the bio magic also promote an Aerobic treatment. They make claims of no smell but they are not referring to the system magically stopping smells being produced if their system is used, they are referring to drawing the smells out of the breather and not entering the RV. Do these cassette toilets have a problem with allowing smells into the RV? (I have a black tank).

Dunny antics always get my imagination going.. I picture the boss sitting on the bog concerntrating on touchdown timing, so much for the splatter datter times
I don't look at all the links provided due to the download thingy so thanks Lesley for that explanation. Much to Terry's dislike we have the vac loo so use no chemicals and it uses so little water that works for us. (except for the Chuckie visits)

Re: Toilet Additive
Thanks Lesley, I understand that. My point was that it isn't drawn through the waste. The systems I have fitted use an air pump to supply the air to a set of pipes (like a spa) which are laid along the bottom of the tank. The air is then forced through the waste as the air rises.

Re: Toilet Additive
I think some of these "homemade" SOG's are really no more than an exhaust fan that evacuates the airspace above the waste and expells it outside.
I did see a description of how someone did a home made one up. I'll see if I can find a link to it. There's been so many forums come & go that it's hard to track things at times.
Credit where credit is due...... Big Thanks!!

Ah, okay. I don't know much more about it, only that it works.Craig wrote:Thanks Lesley, I understand that. My point was that it isn't drawn through the waste. Re: Toilet Additive
The vacuum toilets can't use a SOG unit. The home brand nappy soaker only works on number 2's, the purple drain enzymes from Bunnings etc work on number 1's and grey water. The black tank I have made for the bus has a bubbler system much as Craig describes that will actually pull the air back through the engine intake when the engine is running, sort of a natural gas fuel additive
the air in will be heated by the exhaust, the idea is to improve the reactions and vaporise some of the water to minimise the volume in the holding tanks. Might work, might not, just gotta make sure the tank isn't over full and some of the contents gets sucked into the engine, I just can't imagine what that would be like to clean out later when the engine stops

It's gotta be said.....
I think your engine would be running like sh#t if that happened. The way I minimise the volume of what is in the black tank is by using a dump point
