Mannum get together

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Almost got it .
The solar would stay on the van , maybe add another 200W making it 760W on the van and then buy a bulk lot solar from Gumtree or similar.

Saw an adverrt a few weeks ago for a 4Kw system removed from a house , the lot was a "need it gone sale" and from memory $500.oo
The old/new system would power things like A/C and extra power during the day with the batteries as night time back up.

Then when on the road in the van the batteries would be simply placed into a side cupboard, clamped down, and plugged into the main loom.
I'd be using WiFi to check the system so I could almost hide the whole lot in a side cupboard.

I don't see that getting a top battery system and then leave it sitting in the van , maybe for months, and not using it elsewhere. ;) is cost effective.
I'm 75 now and have a few complaints that sometimes give me gyp, so how much more vanning do I have left in me to set up a van that , maybe , I'd only get a few years more enjoyment and ability to use out of ?
So to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$ for a short , limited usage /time isn't a viable option to me.

looks like I shoulda explained my self a bit better Ehh .

Peter I don't have enough taste buds working at the moment so why waste a good grog but later down the track I will make up for it.. The lemon squashes had to do mainly to wash the food down

Ahh well another grey brain cell gone LOL ( got a few missing in action lately  )

Ron, have had a 120ah x 12v lifepo4 portable pack for the last 11 years and it is a wonderful accessory to my life. Can carry it round in one hand, is used for fuel pumping, dam pumping, boat pumping, earth mover and tractor jump starting, backup when on the road and has even been used to power our band on a couple of occasions. Just love it and what it can do, yet to get below 12v in all those years and it has been dropped into water, off the truck and left out in the rain. Still has 100% capacity to the best of my knowledge and still in the crap case made out of old aluminum road signs.
Ron was looking for a battery pack to power an air con unit, not quiet so portable and would require the inverter to be plug and play along with the solar so it could be moved from van to village unit and back. I suggested building the whole lot in the back of the Ranger because that could be parked near the unit and simply plug in either the van or the unit as required. The van is stored in a parking area too far away for an extension cord to run from the van to the unit which is the way this type of set up is usually set up.

That's a lot like I have done batteries in the ute with big inverter solar on the van run a lead from the ute to the van 6b&s cable from
Van solar to ute also have a smaller 200amph lithium in the van to run 240v fridge lights tv and a few other things works for me.

Yet to see if the 120ah pack will drive an A/C, may give it a go in the bus one day to see how it handles it. Of course Ron could make up a 400ah pack and move it round with a sky hook, or air lift.
