Van to boat

Post by Dibsy »

Ok let’s say I wanted to take all my solar and battery system out of the van and put it in a boat. What changes would I have to make .
Mine is legal so it has all the rite safety switches

Depends on the type of boat and then decide exactly what you want/need to power off the solar/battery system.
In my case the boat came with 12v powering all lights plus helm devices. (depth sounder, radios etc)
I decided to leave them as they were & just use the new solar/battery setup to power all 240V power points. (which previously were generator or shore powered.)
If it was on a 'being built' boat it'd be better going all powered by battery/inverter.

 That is the hard bit eh Dibsy  The rest is simply unbolting the stuff out of the van and bolting it into the boat, then get the 240vac connected by a sparkie and connect the 12v stuff using fuses as required.
