Another way is to mount the panels in groups that can be swung up from either end to access under the panels. Can you recognise who this is, there is a clue in the photo title. You can see the panels connected in both parallel and series, 12v panels on a 24v system.

Some good ideas there, i like both the channel walkway (great for cabling) and the lift up arrangement.

I'll have to think on it some more. :? :)

Cheers,

PS, it looks like the bum that just bought a houseboat over your way, then he offloaded his old bus onto you didn't he??

I have a curved roof.

The Panels are mounted on ally RHS tube, I used ally angle on the centre line and hinges on the outside line.

I can swing the panels up to clean the roof, but the main reason for using hinges was to get the exact angle between the RHS and the panel. This allows a clean rivet to the panel.
You can also see how the RHS is angled and glue to the roof.

Bernie, I have 6 x 200 watt house panels too. I run two strings of three paralleled.

My solar voltage is up to 120 volts with a max solar current of about 12 amps. The MPPT controller does all the conversions. I have a 24 volt set up into AGM's.

Thanx Jon,
Yeah mine is an old style curved roof also.
I'll have to play around with my layout again and see about hinged panels.
While the panels I got are really good, they don't layout on the roof between hatches etc all the well.
I've only done rough measurements though, so I'll have to get up and do it properly.

Cheers,

Bernie,

To get the exact right angles, I cut pieces of 35x90 mine to the exact panel width.
Then I could glue everything in situ with the pine patterns.

Remove the pine and slip in the panel.

Working out the pattern is difficult. I had to get over scuppers. And didn't allow enough room for a 4 seasons hatch.

Is that a compact aluminium C channel system you've used there Steve? If so, could you share the details of what/where please?

William here, I assume you are talking at me from your quote ?

https://www.motorhomeconversion.com.au/vp-energy/

Profile system, I too have a round roof but using the profile system allowed us to hang the 7 electric awnings off the edges, it all bolts together with special bolts, never comes loose with vibration.

10 x 200 watters on the coach with another 5 on the trailer, 24 v system, up to 100 amps from the solar in summer, thinking about another 1600 watts on the trailer on a slide out system. IF we ever get out of this training of the farm buyers !
